Landscape Design

The search can feel endless—until it doesn’t.
You notice a pattern: most firms talk about plants, paving, and price. Few talk about people.
Fewer still ask how music drifts through your patio at dusk, or how Saturday laughter echoes off a pool’s waterline. Then you arrive at Township Design and something shifts. We start with questions about life before talking square footage, because the best landscapes begin inside the mind, not on the drafting board.

What's in a Name?

The word “township” has deep roots. Traditionally, it described a small, self-governed community—tight-knit, purposeful, and connected by shared values. Long before the sprawl of modern cities and the rise of car culture, townships were how people lived and worked: close to home, close to the land, and close to one another.

That spirit inspired the name Township Design.

Township Design is a return to something more grounded, while embracing everything modern life has to offer.

We’re a growing network of independent, home-based landscape design studios—what we call “Townships.” Each Township is run by a passionate designer working from their own home, deeply rooted in their community and committed to personal, high-touch service.

Thanks to cloud-based tools and shared systems, our designers collaborate seamlessly, no cubicles required. Freed from traffic and distractions, we focus on what matters most: creating outdoor spaces that restore, inspire, and feel like home.

At Township Design, great design starts with a strong foundation. Ours is a little closer to home.

STEP 1

Consultation

The first step of the design process is the initial landscape consultation. In this meeting, We will discuss your project with you, your likes and dislikes, make suggestions regarding layout and design elements, answer any questions you might have (about everything from pools to pergolas as well as the landscape design process), and get to know you a little better before any design work is started.

STEP 2

Site Analysis

The next step is to conduct a site analysis, considering the existing landscape, shade, shadow patterns, wind exposure, and views, among other factors, to inform the preparation of the landscape plan. We will also discuss example projects, view photos, and note existing hardscape and plant material. This understanding of the site will serve as a backbone of knowledge for the remainder of the design.

STEP 3

Concept Design

One or more concept plans will be created to provide you with visual layouts that outline our ideas, combined with your requests and preferences, in various formats. We will meet to review these concepts and discuss proposed plant materials, hardscape, lighting, and site furnishing options, giving you a feel for the space and the opportunity to select materials that appeal to you.

STEP 4

Final Design

The final step in the design process is to assemble all elements that appeal to you in one or more concept plans and prepare the final Landscape Master Plan. The plan includes botanical and common names, quantities, sizes, and maintenance guidelines. Since you own these plans, you can now get competitive bids for installation.

STEP 5

Installation

Offered as a local service to the Jacksonville, FL area, when you're ready to implement your project, We will be with you every step of the way, from the estimate process to the observation of your design's installation. The best results are achieved when we manage our landscape projects and collaborate with landscape contractors from start to finish, ensuring your design vision is executed as intended. Every landscape contractor we partner with is fully licensed, bonded, and insured.

Example Plan Set

The project below represents a pretty standard design package. This project included the addition of a covered patio, fireplace, outdoor kitchen, bar, landscape, hardscape, a small pool, and a low-voltage lighting plan.

Construction details were provided to facilitate accurate estimating, resulting in a $12,000 savings between three bids.

This set included dimensions, areas, lengths, quantities, and specifications.
