Why Renderings Matter
At Township Design, great design deserves to be felt, not just seen from above.
While traditional "bird’s eye" or plan-view drawings are helpful, they often feel abstract, like looking at your future landscape from a Google Maps screenshot. It can be hard to honestly imagine how a space will look and feel when you're walking through it, lounging on the patio, or enjoying the garden at sunset.
That’s where perspective renderings come in.
Seeing your project in three dimensions, from eye level or slightly above, brings the design to life. It helps you (and your builder) better understand the layout, flow, and experience of the space before construction even begins. Even more, it builds excitement. You’re no longer staring at lines on a page; you’re envisioning your future lifestyle.
Whether it’s helping you visualize the finished product or getting your contractor aligned on the plan, perspective renderings are one of the most valuable tools in the design process.

Rendering Style Differences
At Township Design, our default rendering style is non-photorealistic. We’ve found this approach to be not only the most cost-effective and time-efficient to produce, but also one that invites a deeper emotional connection. Much like a black-and-white photograph or a hand-painted illustration, this style encourages the viewer to engage with the image on a more imaginative level, filling in details with their own interpretation.
Rather than prescribing every visual element with photo-real accuracy, non-photorealistic renderings leave just enough open to suggestion. This allows each viewer to experience the vision uniquely, often resulting in a more personalized and memorable impression.
By contrast, photorealistic renderings, while visually stunning, tend to leave little room for interpretation. Every texture, shadow, and material is fully resolved, offering clarity but limiting the viewer’s imaginative role in the process.
That said, we’re happy to coordinate more photorealistic renderings when needed, especially for marketing or final presentation purposes. Our goal is always to match the right style to the needs of the project and the audience.
