Introducing a New Series: Lessons from the Wall
Aug 03, 202525 Reflections on Leadership, Culture, and Building Something That Lasts
At Township Design, we believe great work doesn’t just come from great design—it comes from great people, processes, and values.
And those values? They’re lived out in the day-to-day decisions of how we lead, how we listen, how we care.
The Wall That Started It All
Years ago, I visited a colleague’s office and noticed a wall covered in leadership quotes, torn from books and taped up like quiet reminders. Some were thoughtful. Some were blunt. But together, they told a story of what it means to build something that matters.
I snapped a photo of that wall and tucked it away.
Years later, as I relaunched Township Design and began shaping the culture I wanted to lead, I pulled that image back out, not for decoration, but for inspiration. These were the reminders I needed. The truths I wanted to live out. The kind of boss I wanted to become.
Why This Series Exists
Over the next 25 weeks, I’ll be sharing a short reflection on each quote from that wall. These posts aren’t theoretical leadership fluff. They’re personal, hard-earned insights about:
- What leadership looks like when no one’s watching
- How care, trust, and humility shape team culture
- The difference between managing and mentoring
- Why do clients feel the difference when values come first?
Whether you’re leading a team, running your own business, or looking to work with companies that align with your values, I hope this series gives you something tangible to reflect on.
What to Expect
Each week, I’ll post a new short article focused on one quote, with themes ranging from:
- Inner mindset & responsibility
- Emotional intelligence & team culture
- Growth & vulnerability
- Execution & performance
- Purpose & vision
They’ll be quick reads, but I hope they spark more profound thought, and maybe even a few new habits.
Who This Is For
This series is especially for you if:
- You’re a leader or manager trying to build a healthier, more human team culture
- You’re a small business owner navigating the tension between vision and responsibility.
- You’re a client or collaborator who values working with partners that care about people as much as the product.
If any of that resonates, I hope you’ll follow along.
